About

Ingrid André (Belgium/Finland/France) works at the intersection of dance, art-based research, and Perceptual Pedagogy. Based in Helsinki, her practice moves back and forth between the relational body and the collective body.

She has been teaching somatic practices since the early 2000s at Corpus Studios Brussels and Somatic Center Finland, and currently works as a psychosomatic fasciatherapy practitioner (Danis Bois Method) at Helsinki Therapy Practices. She is equally invested in bringing this practice into dialogue with other fields — art, dance, education, health, philosophy — and in what can emerge, together, at their crossing points. She is currently researching the political scope of somatic practices.

Recent work as a dancer

• A Human Ensemble — an ensemble piece for nine dancers, choreography by Karolina Ginman, CIRKO Helsinki (2020) and Draamasali Vaasa (2023)

Today, she is curious about challenging familiar perceptions and representations, and researches Full Presence® meditation as a feminist and humanist tool — a way to disrupt dominant patterns and reflect on our shared becoming, from the intimate body toward wilder terrains.

Path

After studying dance in Belgium and at Balettakademien Stockholm, she spent several years working as a professional dancer — with companies including Skånes Dansteater (Malmö), Karolina Ginman (Helsinki), AMGOD collective (Brussels), Philip Egli Company (Zürich) — before moving to Helsinki in 2006 when she became a mother. She worked as a movement facilitator on Scenes from Faust for Helsinki Festival (2018).

She later returned to studying art at Art School MAA, seeking new ways to frame the invisible interplay between corporeality and society. She recently completed a University Diploma in Perception at Pessoa University, Portugal — weaving her different practices and personal history into a more coherent field, between the intimate body and the world.
